Tengen Toppan Gurren Laggan Movie

Same Theme
Same Characters
New Plot ???
Just Hoping Kamina's alive and Nia. Hoping that this movie will let the dead guys live to the end. Just hoping it's not a compilation like Eva, Gunbuster and Die Buster.

@kenji if Kamina lived, do you think Simon would become what he is?

Yep.
He's his own man even at a young age since Kamina gave him a chance to fight Viral on his own. He's not a guy that lives on the shadow of his aniki, he holds his own, but Kamina is WAAAAAAAAAAY better imho. Too bad he died in the series.

^False. He was extremely dependent on Kamina, as evidenced by his 2-episode-long sulking over his death. He keeps trying to bring him back by building all those mini-statues but if it weren't for Nia he would have never snapped out of it. The bit about him not living in the shadow of Kamina only becomes true after he realizes that he shouldn't, which is well after episode 8.
@Snacks: "The film will re-edit the first part of the television series story with some newly animated scenes." <--does this refer to the beginning part of episode 1 which doesn't seem to fit in anywhere?

Difference in opinions since it's just legacy of his Aniki to remember him by. Anyone that close to you you need you can't just forget. MANLY TEARS ARE SHED...

Anyone can come off the shadows of anyone when the time is right, dead or living person. Kamina served as an inspiration for the young hero.

Well uh.. since it says "The film will re-edit the first part of the television series story with some newly animated scenes", I'm pretty sure he'll still die at one point. IMHO, Kamina dying was an important part in Simon's maturity, he wouldn't have been as awesome otherwise.

I don't like people dying.
Must be one reason why Batman was never killed. Except from Infinity Crisis.

Mah boi, it's not an opinion. It's called a plot device. Basically, without Kamina's death Simon wouldn't have had the drive to become the omg awesome spiral warrior of the universe because he would just rely on Kamina for that. That is all fine, but there's a problem: Simon is the main hero of the story. If Kamina were to stay alive, they should have made him the main protagonist in the first place. Alas, as awesome as the guy is he's just a plot device to justify the need for Simon to grow and mature, and he mirrors this in the end when he leaves Gimmy and Darry so that they too can grow and mature.
But yeah, manly tears, also 40% of Gainax's capital etc.

BAHH!!! Great Characters... But the story sucks since the cooler ones dies and manly tears are shed.
Nia and Kamina....

The only saving grace here is Yoko.
