japanese with subs. keeps the "feel" of the anime intact, emotions, expressions, etc. also great for nihongo practice

English dub... I have no choice... I got region 1 Dvd's U.S. version... helping the so called industry lolz... No doubt the best dub is the original Japanese, but normally you have to watch it not read it... I'm hands down to original Japanese dub, I myself like it better, but non-anime people will think twice on you if they saw you watching something they and you can't understand language... I'm a Seiyuu fan, but I also consider the english dubbers too... as giving life to the characters we love... It's just a matter of preference... I myself watch the an episode twice... one english dub and one japanese dub...
Different U.S. Dvd's distributors have their own english dubbers or dubbing studio... here are observation I got from watching different anime shows in english version.
Bandai Entertainment - they don't have their own dubbers but it's either they dub it in Canada like All the Gundam
series they have or dub it thru Bang Zoom Entertainment which is a freelance dubbers.
Funimation - they have their own dubbing studio, dubbing agents, and I can say their equipped with impressive
sound system.
ADV - one of the pioneer anime distributors here, they started the so called english dub era. they got their on
studio and dubbing agents. Some of ADV's talent also works on Funimation vice versa.
Geneon - they don't have their own dubbing agents, either they asked freelance dubbers or thru Bang Zoom Ent.
Kitty Media - they got their on dubbing agents plus they dub almost every single H-anime in the industries hehe!!!
Bang Zoom Entertainment - is a freelance dubbers, it's like a one stop shop, (heres my anime dub it for me)
almost everybody here is a veteran voice actors/actress like Rick Hunters voice.
And got directing dubbing skills.

definitely english subs than dubs. somehow i feel more of the characters' feelings kapag yung totoo nilang boses naririnig ko, kahit hindi ko naiintindihan!

Depends on the anime really..some are good with the original voice but some handful anime sounds better on dubs

got to agree with Shini on this 1 .. there are a couple of good titles with pretty good English dubs..like samuraix, full metal alchemist, Ranma 1/2, Pokemon..
off topic - some of the anime from Hero/ABS that were dubbed in Filipino is also ok..like yakitate japan<natatawa ako sa mga banat nila>, Naruto, Mirumo de Pon, etc..

Japanese with English Subtitles because well you hear their original voice. Hmm in English Dub they cut parts..ecchi parts too so no good story there right.

Preferably Japanese with English subs. Listening to the character's own voice sounds better to me plus, it makes more sense because some dubbers replace the original script with their own words.
The only anime I watched with respectable english dubbing is Cowboy Bebop.

I prefer Japanese with English subs as well. But there are also a handful of series and features that make use of good English dubbing. So it definitely depends on the quality of work. But still, first choice on subs.
Also, I agree with anything (or everything) can get lost in translation. So it depends how accurate as well it is. Unless, you learn Nihonggo and listen to it 'raw'.

Kung ano ang meron.
Sometimes I have no right to complain.
When I have both versions, take Crisis Core (even if its a game) for example, I can see how the Japanese audio is OVERRATED. Zack sounds like a rough maniac, Cissnei sounds older than her age and Genesis sounds like a rapist (no offense to Gackt). The English version gave some light humor to Zack, a more suitable tone to Cissnei as well as an eloquent and much more poetic tone to Genesis.

Japanase with subtitles for me. Medyo nababaduyan ako sa ibang anime with english dubs. Parang nababawasan yung essence nung anime. Parang dun sa GTO english. No offense meant though, imho lang.

List of BOGUS Dubbing companies
4Kids Entertainment: The money-hungry fools behind Shaman King's English dub in Cartoon Network. Thanks for Tao Ren's freaking French accent, sissies!
TAJ Productions: They are the ones who ruined Valkyrie Profile and Valkyrie Profile Lenneth with Pokemon-esque voices and oh, they're also behind that overrated voice acting of Pokemon.

Whoever is behind the dubbing of several anime/s of Animax including Crush Gear and Ranma 1/2: Ranma Female, Conan Edogawa, Kouya Marino's voice is so stupendous and repetitive.
Dubbing companies that should be praised:
Funimation: Behind the high-quality dubbing of Fullmetal Alchemist and several Adult Swim Show. God bless them.

Eto yung kailangan mo na bumili ng Orig. Kaya nga sabi ni Tony Stark "Is it to much to ask for both?" I like to hear anime or L.A.'s with their original voices. But on the back of my head I also want to hear and watch it dub so there will be no more reading the subs.
But all these years nasanay na me sa subs. So I'll vote for that.

i've always preferred the japanese dub with english subtitles (or without subtitles -- i can understand japanese just fine) because: 1) english voice actors are sub-par compared to their japanese counterparts; and 2) a lot of cultural nuances and in-jokes are lost in translation.

Subs because they come out faster than dubs. You have to wait for several months before you can watch a show dubbed.

If the dubs are done well (and they rarely are... though that situation does seem to be improving) then it's not too bad, but subs are still the way to go...
no, actually learning the darned language is the way to go, but subs are a tolerable 2nd.

i'd prefer english subs. for me english as well as tagalog dubs ruins the "purity" of the anime for me.

I don't mind the subs, but dubs are better.
With subs, you don't notice some of the screen action because you get engrossed in reading the subs.

Japanese Dubs, english subs
most english subs are crap, with a few exceptions such as the Hayao Miyazaki movies (Mononoke, Nausicaa, Howl's Moving Castle), Vampire Hunter D, and Cowboy Bebop have great dubs, excellent voice acting.
dont even get me started on Tagalog subs, Naruto in tagalog is just not right

.
on the bright side however, older anime (Yuyu hakusho,Lupin etc)in Tagalog have a campy charm to them.

Japanese with English subtitles of course, English dubbing isn't always 100% correct, especially sa Animax

. And the 4Kids dubbing of One Piece sucked so much it could make your ears bleed, LOL, Murder on a different level.

English dubs are fine with me unless they really do suck. (like Flame of Recca couldn't stand the english dub because it's really messed up and annoying.)
Original Japanese audio with subtitles is still the best though..

Jap w/ eng subs syempre. Iba pa rin ang voice acting talent ng mga japs e. So far the only eng dub team that I really appreciated is Viz Video and Pioneer (Ranma 1/2, Fatal Fury, Tenchi Muyo, etc).
Minsan mas maganda pa nga ung Pinoy dub e...
Funimation and Cartoon Network dubs suck

depends on the anime itself like GTO no other person has the right to dub Onizuka except his japanese voive actor.
when the english release from Animax came, Onizuka's voice became so unnatural!
